Even Strong People Need A Break.
They Might Just Be The Ones Who Need It Most.
Have you ever thought about how weird it is that certain people get labelled as being ‘strong’? As soon as someone develops a reputation for being able to put up with a lot without letting it show, people tend to treat them as though they were invincible.
When times get hard for them, they get overlooked. Everyone assumes that they’re fine, because everyone else assumes that they’re fine, too. But what if they’re not? What are people who everyone perceives to be strong supposed to do when they feel vulnerable and alone?
The thing is, even the strongest people struggle with life. It doesn’t matter how strong you are, or how strong people think you are. Life gets tough for everybody, and there’s nothing that we can do about it except be there for each other and support one another, regardless of who it is.
In difficult times like these, when the world has been turned on its head by a virus, when everybody is staying indoors and life is at its craziest and nothing seems to make sense, we need to pull together and help one another more than ever. The most important thing we can do is to remember to look out for the people who are busy looking out for everybody else.
The people who seem to need the least help are often the ones who feel like they can’t ask for it. They struggle on in quiet desperation, hoping that someone will check in on them to make sure that they’re doing okay.
Even the strongest people fall apart sometimes. No one is invincible; everybody breaks down. The toughest among us need love, care, and support too. Even the most sturdy rocks are eroded by the waves eventually, so we need to make sure that we’re there for each other to lean on when times get tough.
So, remember to show your appreciation for the strong ones, for the helpers. For the people who are always there for others when they need it. For the doctors, the nurses, the pharmacists, the grocery workers. People who have no choice but to carry on. For the ones who run towards danger when everyone else is running away. They’re always there for us, so we need to make sure that we’re there for them.
In times of crisis, the thing that gives us strength is our sense of community; our feeling of being able to rely on those around us. That’s always a two way street – we have to be willing to give as well as receive. Look out for the people around you, especially the ones who everyone assumes is doing fine, the ones who never seem to ask for any help. The one everyone expects can just keep on going no matter what. They might just be the ones who need it most.

Just because I don’t always share my troubles, doesn’t mean I don’t have them. At times, I may be fighting battles you know nothing about.

“Before you start to judge me, step into my shoes and walk the life I’m living, and if you get as far as I am, just maybe you’ll see how strong I really am.
