There’s only so many times you can allow someone to let you down before you will no longer tolerate being disappointed. When things go wrong between two people, something has got to give. You get to the point where you get tired of being the only one trying to fix things, it’s not giving up, it’s realizing you had enough. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if it hurts.”

Does this apply to a new family member? DIL? I don’t want my Son to be out of my life!?

Joanne, I’m not sure how to reply other than that I’m sorry for your pain. My half sister is going through your exact situation. It’s a very difficult position to be in. She has a close relationship with her only son and his wife isn’t the easiest for her to get along with. She much different than I on many things but I feel her pain and my nephew’s. So, with that being said, your son will hurt as well…I can tell you that much. It’s usually harder to be the bigger person in this type of situation but that would be my goal if I were in your shoes. All you can do is your best and let go and let God. I’ll pray for you and keep the faith that God’s working behind the scenes within your family. God bless~

Exactly!… I am at that point in life right now, and I am not feeling guilty about it, because it feels sooooo right!

Boy am I going through this right now! and it DOES hurt horribly. I’m talking about my younger brother who’s in such denial. I’ve been there in those angry, bitter, miserable and self medicating shoes. I just wish he would take a minute to listen to what I’ve learned, accept my love and support and get over all the past mistakes of our dysfunctional family. So stubborn, although I know it well because I was like that not too long ago. God, I pray for him and his heart to heal and to get over the past so he can move on in his life so he can enjoy the peace we deserve. I must give this up for I cannot keep getting stabbed in the heart just for trying to love and care for him. God forgive me for walking away but Your word says to stay away from such people for they can harden our heart. (2 Timothy chapter 3)….I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
