Everything heals. Your body heals. Your heart heals. Your mind heals. Wounds heal. Your soul repairs itself. Your happiness is always going to come back.

I value people who are down on their luck yet they keep a positive outlook. I respect people who have wounds that tell an intense story of trust. I commend the folks with hurts that run as deep as rivers but they keep walking onward. I cherish the broken people because sometimes they’ll give you a piece of their story to learn from. I highly regard those who have gone through storm after storm but walk out more determined than ever. I think this is so because I can relate and their walk encourages me and for this I will tell my heart to never give up.

Don’t wait for years for anyone who hurt you to “make it up to you” and keep your old wounds from healing. Waiting for them to change is not the answer. They may never change. Inner peace is found by changing yourself, not the people who hurt you. And you change yourself for yourself, for your joy, your serenity, your peace of mind, understanding, compassion, laughter, and your bright future that you will get.

Until you heal the wounds of your past, you are going to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex; But eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, Stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories and make peace with them. ~Iyanla Vanzant

“And no matter what anybody says about grief and about time healing all wounds, the truth is, there are certain sorrows that never fade away until the heart stops beating and the last breath is taken.”

It has been said, “time heals all wounds.” I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone”

Don’t stuff down your feelings. Don’t pretend to feel what you don’t feel. Be honest with yourself. Be real about your pain. You’ve suffered so much trying to hold it in all these years. Don’t suffer alone anymore. Don’t stay silent about what hurts. You don’t need to be ashamed of the scars you carry. You don’t need to hide your wounds ever again.

“You don’t need another human being to make your life complete, but lets be honest. Having your wounds kissed by someone who doesn’t see them as disasters in your soul, but cracks to put their love into is the most calming thing in this world.”

“I’m often difficult to love. I go through dark periods like the moon and I hide from myself. But I promise I will kiss your wounds when they’re hurting. Even if they’re in your soul, I can find them with the light in my fingertips. I will lead you to the river so you can remember how beautiful it feels to be moved by something that is out of your control. And when our dark periods match, we can breathe with the grass and look at the night sky. The stars will remind us of the beauty in our struggles and we won’t feel lost.”

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.”

This goes out to all of the people who have been broken but have been strong enough to let go. For the people who have hurt so badly that they felt they could never love again, but kept their head up. For the people that wish loneliness wasn’t a part of them, but put up with it anyhow. For the people that are okay with taking up all of the room in the bed, even if sometimes it feels a little empty. For the people who wake up in the morning with no missed calls, but smile anyway. For the people that have wounds still healing. For the people that have so much tied to their past relationship, but break those chains to start fresh. For the people that want to look back so badly, but focus on the road ahead. For the people that pick up the phone so tempted to call, but keep their dignity intact instead. For the people that never wanted to let go, but had to. For the people that still believe in love even after all of the hurt their heart has endured. For all the people that gave up not because they were weak, but because most times it’s better just to let go. You will get your happy ending someday. Hang in there and don’t give up. Because all endings are also beginnings.
