Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s so clear that the two of you, on some level belong together. As lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different. You just work, whether you understand one another or you’re in love or you’re partners in crime. You meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest circumstances, and they help you feel alive. I don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in something.

Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

It’s been said that everlasting friends can go long periods of time without speaking and never question the friendship. These types of friends pick up like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far away they live and they don’t hold grudges. They understand that life is busy…but you will ALWAYS love them.

Life changes every minute of every day. You lose friends. You gain friends. You realize your friend wasn’t ever really your friend, and that person you used to hate can make a really good friend. You look for love. You find love. You lose love. You realize that all along you’ve been loved. You laugh. You cry. You laugh so hard that you cry. You do this, you do that. You really wish you hadn’t done that. You learn from that and are glad that you did. You have your ups. You have your downs. You see good movies. You see bad movies. You look at others and wish you were them. You then realize who they are and are glad that you’re you. You love life. You hate life. In the end, you just find yourself happy to be living life, no matter what’s thrown at you.

The sad truth is that there are some people who will only be there for you as long as you have something they need. When you no longer serve a purpose to them, they will leave. The good news is, if you tough it out, you’ll eventually weed these people out of your life and be left with some great people you can count on. We rarely lose friends, we just gradually figure out who our real ones are.

“A person’s emotional being is like an ocean. The people in your life are separated into three different categories. You have the sailors: they won’t touch the water. They opt to stay inside the boat. These people are your acquaintances, or “surface” friends, and they never make it deep. You then have the snorkelers. These are the friends who want to go deep, but don’t have the emotional capacity to carry the pressure and weight. If they make an attempt, they either drown or are forced to go back to the surface for oxygen. Finally, let’s talk about the deep sea divers. These are the people who stay with you through storms and violent waters, and they aren’t afraid to dive to the darkest parts of the ocean floor: they stay with you, in the water, through the worst times. They aren’t afraid to call out your bullshit. They’re the people who are there for you no matter what happens.

A true friendship doesn’t need daily conversation. It does not assume the worst, even when communication is lacking. Strong friendships survive the storms of this life because they believe the best about each other. As long as the friendship lives
in the heart, true friends will never part.

This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. But just remember, some people come, some people go. The ones that stay with you through everything, they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. People are going to break your heart but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on and always believe in yourself because if you don’t, then who will? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.

They say how to find out who your real friends are, is to notice who is around when times are rough, instead of just when times are easy. When choosing our friends we have to remember that we must choose wisely. There will be many people around when there are no worries. Instead take note of the people who remain in your life when times are hard. If one day should you ever need to reach out, that day you will know how many real friends you really have.

I guess the real fact of the matter is, we don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring and the only thing we really have is right now. So, don’t stay angry for too long and learn to forgive. Love your friends and family with all your heart. Have fun and live your life the way you want to live it. Most of all, don’t worry about people that don’t like you and enjoy the ones who do.

I am happy when I eat fresh fruit, when I burst out laughing, when I discover a new song, when I finish a good book, when I wake up and feel relaxed. I’m glad to have friends, family, a home, food when I’m hungry, hot water when I shower. I love being able to live, travel and see the seasons change. There are so many things that make life so simple and easy and I will always think about them more than all the bad things that will happen to me. I do not have time to be sad every day and ungrateful; I have every reason in the world to be happy.

Life is kind of like a party. You invite a lot of people, some leave early, some stay all night, some laugh with you, some laugh at you, and some show up late. But in the end, after the fun, there are a few who stay to help you clean up the mess. And most of the time they aren’t even the ones who made the mess. These people are your real friends. They are the ones who matter most.

Don’t waste your time caring about the people who don’t like you– chances are you don’t like them either. Don’t waste your time worrying if people are talking about you- you affected their lives, they didn’t affect yours. Waste your time with the people you care about- live in the moment, because your family and friends are what matter most. Because it’s all about the simple things in life. A comfy home, good food on the table, and surrounded by the people you love.

Learn from the lessons life teaches you and don’t waste your time on people who are there in your life for their convenience and who cheat you, lie to you and stab you in your back. Don’t allow people to use you then forget you. Just be Strong and don’t let anything break your spirit. Choose the people whom you want in your life. The people who in 10 years from now, you would be proud to say they are your friends.

True friends are always there for you. Fake friends only appear when they need something from you. Time passes and you begin to see people for who they really are and not who they pretend to be. Respect people who find time for you in their busy schedule. But love people who never look at their schedule when you need them. Life is much too short to waste time on people who don’t really care for us deep down. When someone shows you who they really are believe them the first time.

I don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in something.”

Do the things you used to talk about doing but never did. Know when to let go and when to hold on tight. Stop rushing and enjoy each moment. Don’t be intimidated to say it like it is but don’t be rude about it. Stop apologizing all the time if you didn’t do anything wrong. Learn to say no, so your “yes” has some meaning. Spend time with the friends who lift you up, and cut loose the ones who bring you down. Stop giving your power away. Its normal to outgrow some people. Sometimes you’ll find that you’d rather sit with your own thoughts than chill with friends.. And thats ok..

When you are up in life, your friends get to know who you are. But when you are down in life, you get to know who your friends are. There will be many people who will be great to be around when times are easy, and when there are no worries, instead take note of the people who remain in your life when times are hard. The friends that are willing to sacrifice their time and the resources they have in their life that could easily be used in their lives, to help improve yours, those are your real friends. A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.

Don’t waste your time on people who take you for granted. Keep the TRUE friends close, the ones who make you laugh and always make time for you. They’re the ones who care.

It’s been said that everlasting friends can go long periods of time without speaking and never question the friendship. These types of friends pick up like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far away they live and they don’t hold grudges. They understand that life is busy…but you will ALWAYS love them.

Do not bring people in your life who weigh you down. And trust your instincts; good relationships feel good. They feel right. They don’t hurt. They’re not painful. That’s not just with somebody you want to marry, but it’s with the friends that you choose. It’s with the people you surround yourselves with.’

If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.

I’ve learned to be friends with the broken. They know how to survive and have a depth of great love and understanding. I’ve learned that loneliness has nothing to do with how many people are around you but how many of them understand you. I learned that the smallest word can break your heart or repair it. That we are all good at something, whether it’s making someone laugh or remembering their birthday. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that these things don’t matter. That you will always be hungry for love. Always. Even when someone is asleep next to you, you’ll cherish the pillow touching their cheek and the sheet hiding their skin. I learned that we should not fear as we will find our way. It’s in our bones. It’s in our soul.”

“There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.”
