People wonder why I give so many compliments out to strangers. I’m not being fake and I’m not looking for people to like me. But if I pass someone and I like something, I say it. “Love those shoes!” or “Great hair!” or “Wow your eyes are beautiful!”….why? Because life is hard and this world can be a shitty place, and people are mean. You never know how much those few words mean to someone, you never know what hell they may be going through; and when you put positivity out there into the universe YOU yourself become a happier person. It’s hard to be nice and be miserable yourself. It’ll reflect from the outside in. I’m telling you random compliment giving will change your life; and maybe someone else’s, too. — Jordan Sarah Weatherhead

It’s nice to be told you’re beautiful or hot or whatever, but I’d love to hear some say that I make things easier, that they’re happy I exist, they don’t know what they’d do with out me, I’m strong, that they hope we never lose each other, that they’re proud of me, that I have something to offer. Compliments don’t always have to be about appearance. -kirbyshayII

Anyone can give you attention and compliments, but someone who loves you will give you that plus respect, honesty, trust, and loyalty. ~Charles Orlando

Just live your life, beautifully. Make yourself happy and never put the key to your happiness in someone else’s pocket. Don’t depend on anyone else in your life to determine your happiness. Just be patient and in time you’ll come across someone that feels right and without even knowing it you will have found someone who compliments you, rather than trying to find someone who completes you. Someone who enhances your happiness, rather than determine it.

I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain.
