“There is an old saying: “That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I don’t believe that. I think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. Strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. Those are the things that will keep you whole. Those are the things to hold onto when you are broken.”  ― Jax Teller

    Dear Lord,

Here is my heart, I’ve broken it You see.

I tried to fix it as best I could, but it keeps falling apart.

I shared it with my friends and family, I gave them each a piece.

Everything was fine until the pieces they held began to break..

Some of them were lost and some thrown away, a few of the pieces remained intact and were treasured.

But more still were breaking every day.

Pieces were returned to me, the carrier with tear stained eyes. “I don’t know what happened”, they would say.

I would take back the piece knowing we would never be the same. I tried to reconstruct my heart using anything I could – band-aids, tape, ribbon, and even glue – nothing held and I cried.

As I put the pieces together the cracks spread.. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want the broken bits to break the rest, so I’m giving it back to You Lord, I’m giving You my heart.

I know You can fix it. You are the One who created it.. I’m not asking You to make it new, I’m merely asking You to make it whole.

The cracks will help me remember all the pain I’ve gone through.

The glue holding it together will make those breaks stronger so it won’t break in the same place again.

It was such a pretty heart, You made it so well.

I wish I hadn’t broken it, yet the breaks are part of life. For an unbroken heart has never lived, has never loved.

So Lord, will You please protect my heart? Keep it safe for me? And when the cracks appear, will You please fix them, patch them and I would be so grateful.

It’s so hard to heal a heart that is your own.

I’ll be back for it someday when I can find the one who will care for it as You do.

I thank you Lord for everything You’ve done. For hearing my plea, and for restoring my heart.

    Forever Your Child,

    Amen..

    BROKEN WINGS

Don’t break a bird’s wings and then tell it to fly. Don’t break a heart and then tell it to love. Don’t break a soul and then tell it to be happy. Don’t see the worst in a person and expect them to see the best in you. Don’t judge people and expect them to stand by your side. Don’t play with fire and expect to stay perfectly safe. Life is about giving and taking. You cannot expect to give bad and receive good. You cannot expect to give hate and receive love. So if you’re willing to see positive change in your life, you must be willing to be that change itself. -Najwa Zebian

When your heart is breaking for someone who is broken, but your words can’t reach them and your love can’t save them, ask God to send the angels to go where you cannot. To whisper into their heart what their ears can’t hear: “We will not give up on you. Don’t give up on yourself.”

You know what breaks me, when someone is visibly excited about a feeling or an idea or a hope or a risk taken, and they tell you about it but preface it with: “Sorry, this is dumb but-.”Don’t do that. I don’t know who came here before me, or who conditioned you to think you had to apologize or feel obtuse. But not here. Dreams so big it’s silly. Laugh so hard it’s obnoxious. Love so much it’s impossible. And don’t you ever feel unintelligent. And don’t you ever apologize. And don’t you ever shrink so you can squeeze yourself into small places and small minds. Grow. It’s a big world. You fit. I promise.

I’ve learned a lot this year … I learned that things don’t always turn out the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I’ve learned that there are things that go wrong that don’t always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I’ve learned that some broken things stay broken, and I’ve learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you.

There are people who have broken your heart. Who have hurt you. Who have broken your trust. But look carefully. There are some who love you, who trust you and are proud of you. Yes, there were things that didn’t work. There were moments when life was really harsh. But think carefully. There were moments when things worked out the way you wanted. When you were smiling. When life was pleasant. Yes, you made mistakes. You felt bad for yourself. But think carefully. There were moments when you were proud of yourself. When you followed your heart. When you did what you wanted to do. So relax. Your past is gone. Shape your future and have fun in the present. Life is never the way we want it to be. But that’s the way it is. You are not perfect. No one else is. You have flaws. Everyone has. You made mistakes. Everyone has. You failed at something. Everyone has. You can try again. So relax. You are a good human being. You are lovable. You are beautiful. Don’t be so harsh on your life. Love yourself. Because you deserve the best and that is you.

“As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let you down… probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it’s harder every time. You’ll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You’ll fight with your best friend. You’ll blame a new love for things an old one did. You’ll cry because time is passing too fast and you’ll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you have never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never get back.”

I value people who are down on their luck yet they keep a positive outlook. I respect people who have wounds that tell an intense story of trust. I commend the folks with hurts that run as deep as rivers but they keep walking onward. I cherish the broken people because sometimes they’ll give you a piece of their story to learn from. I highly regard those who have gone through storm after storm but walk out more determined than ever. I think this is so because I can relate and their walk encourages me and for this I will tell my heart to never give up.

This goes out to all of the people who have been broken but have been strong enough to let go. For the people who have hurt so badly that they felt they could never love again, but kept their head up.For the people that learn from their mistakes and never stop moving forward, even when they take two steps back. For the people that wish loneliness wasn’t a part of them, but put up with it anyhow. For the people who come home with no missed calls, but smile anyway. For the people that periodically miss the past, but are so much more excited for the future. For the people who have wounds still healing. For the people that have so much tied to their past relationship, but break those chains to start fresh. For the people that want to look back so badly, but focus on the road ahead. For the people that pick up the phone so tempted to call, but keep their dignity intact instead. For the people that never wanted to let go, but found the strength because they had to. For the people that still believe in love even after all of the hurt their heart has endured. For all the people that gave up not because they were weak, but because most times it’s better just to let go.

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

We live in a world where if you break your arm, everyone runs over to sign your cast. But if you tell people you’re depressed, everyone runs the other way…We are so, so, so accepting of any body part breaking down other than our brains. And that’s ignorance. That’s pure ignorance. And that ignorance has created a world that doesn’t understand depression, that doesn’t understand mental health. —Kevin Breel

Dear Me; You have been doubted, hated, talked about, made fun of, hurt, lied to, broken and at your wits end. With that being said, I commend you for the fact that you are still standing. Your courage speaks volumes! I know your struggle and the pain you’ve endured. You are more than a conqueror. Nothing can keep you down and no one can steal your joy. Don’t give up, continue to stand tall and love yourself first. You are appreciated.

The ones who have experienced hunger for long periods of time are usually the ones who share his bread with the hungry. The ones who have the most calluses and roughest hands are the ones who are gentle with his fellowman. The ones who have barely had anything are usually the ones who give most to others. The ones who have sadness in their eyes are usually the ones who hide it with their smiles. It is the broken ones who are usually the most compassionate.

To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.” ~Sandra Kring.

I don’t know about you but I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. I’ve hurt a lot of people and I’ve been hurt by a lot of people. There are a lot of guys out there that really mistreat girls, and a lot of girls out there that really mistreat guys. I’ve broken promises that I’ve made to people that I love and to God and everything. I’ve messed up a lot, and the point is that if you’ve made mistakes doesn’t mean that you have to keep screwing up, or that your life is ruined and that you’re worthless. It means that you can start over, you just have to make that decision yourself.. You have to remember you can start right now.

Fall in love with your best friend. Someone you can talk to about anything and know they’ll hold no judgement. Someone who knows the darkest parts of you and loves you anyway, that knows all your flaws and loves you not in spite of them but because of them. Not someone that you can’t live without, but someone that you don’t want to live without. Someone that you want to experience all of life’s ups and downs with. Someone who will hold your hand through the worst times of your life. When they see you at your worst, when you’re broken, and they don’t run away but help you put the pieces back together, that’s true love.

“When you have a broken heart, the first thing a stranger will ask is ‘how long were you two together?’ As if your pain can be determined by how long you were with someone. Stop breaking your own heart by trying to make a relationship work that clearly isn’t meant to work. You can’t force someone to care about you. You can’t force someone to be loyal. You can’t force someone to be the person you need them to be. Sometimes the person you want most is the person you’re best without. You got to understand some things are meant to happen, but just not meant to be. Some things are meant to come in your life, just not meant to stay. Don’t lose yourself by trying to fix what’s meant to stay broken. You can’t get the relationship you need from someone who’s not ready to give it you . And you might not understand WHY NOW, but I promise you your future will always bring understanding of why things didn’t work out. TRUST ME. Don’t put your happiness on hold for someone who isn’t holding on to you.

“I’m quirky, silly, blunt, and broken. My days are sometimes too dark, and my nights are sometimes too long. I often trip over my own insecurities. I require attention, long for passion, and wish to be desired. I use music to speak when words fail me, even though words are as important to me as the air I breathe. I love hard and with all that i have and even with my faults, I am worth loving.”

“You have been doubted, hated, talked about, made fun of, hurt, lied to, broken and at your wits end. With that being said, I commend you for the fact that you are still standing. Your courage speaks volumes! I know your struggle and the pain you’ve endured. You are more than a conqueror. Nothing can keep you down and no one can steal your joy. Don’t give up, continue to stand tall and love yourself first. You are appreciated.” ~

“Sometimes you just have to turn the page to realize there’s more to your book of life than the page you’re stuck on. Stop being afraid to move on. Close this chapter of hurt, and never re-read it. It’s time to get what your life deserves, and move on from the things that don’t deserve you. Don’t try to fix what’s been broken in your past, let your future create something better.”

This goes out to all of the people who have been broken but have been strong enough to let go. For the people who have hurt so badly that they felt they could never love again, but kept their head up. For the people that wish loneliness wasn’t a part of them, but put up with it anyhow. For the people that are okay with taking up all of the room in the bed, even if sometimes it feels a little empty. For the people who wake up in the morning with no missed calls, but smile anyway. For the people that have wounds still healing. For the people that have so much tied to their past relationship, but break those chains to start fresh. For the people that want to look back so badly, but focus on the road ahead. For the people that pick up the phone so tempted to call, but keep their dignity intact instead. For the people that never wanted to let go, but had to. For the people that still believe in love even after all of the hurt their heart has endured. For all the people that gave up not because they were weak, but because most times it’s better just to let go. You will get your happy ending someday. Hang in there and don’t give up. Because all endings are also beginnings.

If you claim to love me, show me. If you love me please do not needlessly hurt me. I have been broken countless times before yet I am still fragile. There’s no telling if the broken pieces will fit together again next time around. Do not harden me. I want to keep loving the world and the people in it. Please treat me kindly. Handle me with the care you’d give to your favorite glass. I want to love you but I can’t until you earn my trust. Do not drop me. In return I will love you as fiercely.

“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”

“You will get your heart broken. It will hurt. A lot. You will piece it back together and it will get shattered again. And again. And again. And it will hurt every time. Your heart will break over things that have nothing to do with significant others. You will have your heart broken when you don’t get the job you really wanted. You will have your heart broken when your parents get sick and you can’t fly home to see them. You will have your heart broken when your best friend moves away. But every time you do, that feeling is a reminder that you cared about something and you took a risk and you put yourself on the line and, most importantly, that you’re alive.”

Hug the hurt. Kiss the broken. Befriend the lost. Love the lonely.
