Your life is your own. Don’t waste it trying to be what others expect you to be. Don’t sacrifice your happiness to make everybody happy. Don’t give up on your dreams to build other people’s dreams.
YOUR LIFE IS YOUR OWN BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE.

I like this very much. Yes Our life is our own until we decide to have children.Then.We will sacrifice our happiness to make sure they are happy. We will put our plans on the back burner until Our children get old enough to look after themselves. My life is mine but when you have children you share it with then. Happily and Willingly. Your forever friend Tustles Lake KTF

Dear Tustles, I agree. As a parent our children do have expectations from us as we have made a commitment of devotion, trust, and unconditional love. I gather this quote is conveying that outside the circle of parenthood, we should not live up to other people’s expectations nor sacrifice our happiness or dreams for others.

I totally agree that outside the circle of parenthood that We should not live up to anyone’s expectations. Or should we sacrifice our own happiness for anothers. It was just an opinion I had. I am sorry if I seemed like I didn’t get what it was saying I Do.I have at one time in my life sacrificed my happiness for another. Today My Life belongs to ME. Your Forever Friend Tustles Lake KTF

Wow! This really hit home, as do many many of the messages here. I am going through the pain of being shattered when my husband of 25 years up and left me with no warning. We were together 26 years. All of my adult life. I know nothing else. This message describes my life for the last 26 years. I am at the beginning of the process of trying to figure out what MY life is. Thank you lessons. You have given me strength in this horrible time in my life. You are one of my life lines right now. Thank you.

You choose how u will share with your children .. Will u sacrifice for objects, the jones etc or will u share with them building mansions of strenght for the to learn self sufficiency ! UP TO YOU ! Many parents sacrifice worthlesly , raising their children to be weaklings , indecisive etc because they have Not been a strong parent , but a pleaser to them making every other person they meet in the future burdensome !

What if some parents are control freaks. They take their kids for granted.
They want to live their dreams through their kids.
They would sacrifice to an extent that the kids would prefer to kill their dreams rather than saying no to the parents.
What if u could have taken a stand but u didn’t b’coz u couldn’t stand that disappointed face of ur parents

I can relate to that Joanna! More than 3 decades together and she left in an uncontrollable emotional outburst. The day before we walked hand in hand.
High functioning borderline, but worth the beauty of that woman to grow old with.
No remorse shown, not even towards the kids…
